Health Care
Rising costs affect each of us but are particularly hard on schools, local governments, businesses, and farmers. It is the main reason our property taxes keep rising. Real, affordable solutions to our health care problems are at hand in Madison, but our Republican controlled legislature won't even debate the merits of pending bills on health care reform. I will work to bring these fresh ideas to the floor.
Education
Our most important asset. Wisconsin has a long tradition of great public education. State-imposed revenue caps are slowly strangling our schools financially. Schools are closing in our area as well as around the State. We must invest in our children's future or we position ourselves for a huge failure. I will work to improve the funding mechanisms that keep our local schools open at their best.
Ethics in Government
The legislature has earned a bad reputation in the past few years. The imbedded politicians have continually used state resources to further their political careers. This is the equivalent of stealing from every taxpayer in Wisconsin. The Republican majority in the assembly buried a much needed reform bill in committee. I will work for effective reform to make Wisconsin the symbol of good clean government that it once was.
